Eric West is a classically trained musician, turned guitar and banjo player, who has been delighting young audiences for twenty-five years. His prolific extraordinary collection of musical instruments and puppets from around the world, and his humor, all add up to one of the most whimsical shows you will see this year. Eric combines original lyrics, silly antics, whimsical puppets, and plenty of audience participation to keep everyone wondering what comes next.

Eric earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Denver where he was classically trained on the string bass. From there he has branched out to learn how to play dozens of instruments from every continent. In addition to his “Music For Kids” shows, Eric regularly performs with the Evergreen Chorale, and serves on the Collaborative Decision Making Team at West Jefferson Middle School. Eric and his family live in the foothills outside of Denver.

Things No One Knows

Eric has a strong passion about the environment, which is the theme of many of his children’s songs. In recent years he has made several instruments out of “stuff” he decides to work with like frying pans, silverware, oil pans, and film canisters.

Whenever he can, Eric spends his time as a visual artist. Among the many things he’s created around his five acre mountain property is a whimsical carving all the way up a 22 foot tree that had died. A wooden kinetic sculpture, made from fallen trees, sways elegantly when the wind blows. And, as you walk around the woods carved, whimsical faces can be found in faces where you might least expect them.

From the fanciful to the practical, Eric enjoys making things that can be used in every day life. He’s built everything from home additions, furniture, and a gazebo to greenhouses and gourmet meals.
